AMAZONE BIRDLIFE
Never have I been interested in bird-life however our trip to the Amazon region changed this. Over 1500 different types of birds, most I can’t remember but a few I remember. Scarlet macaws, Toucans, Harpy Eagles, Guiana Cock of the Rock, Blood coloured Woodpecker, orange breasted falcon, The painted parakeet, Macaws and Hummingbirds. We learned that most of the birds live in the canopy. The amazing sounds echoing in the Rainforest and colour of the birds is something which amazed us every day again. The high deforestation is a serious problem since most Amazon Rainforest birds live in the treetops and will mean they lose their habitat. We are told already 12 types of Macaws are on the endangered lit and some may already be extinct. Another real problem is the illegal trapping of birds to sell as pets worldwide.
