SOUTHERN SOUTH AMERICA South America: A Continent of Contrasts and Heart SOUTHERN SOUTH AMERICA Argentina, Chile, Uruquay, Paraquay Our South American adventure began in 2016, when we shipped our expedition vehicle all the way from South Africa to Argentina. What followed was a four-year odyssey, exploring nearly every corner of this vast continent—each country revealing its own unique rhythm, flavor, and soul. From the windswept wilds of Patagonia to the towering high passes of the Andes, Argentina and Chile became our temporary homes. We spent months immersed in their breathtaking national parks, glaciers, and deserts. We camped beneath endless stars in the Atacama Desert and stood humbled before the colossal Perito Moreno Glacier. Uruguay offered a peaceful, almost European respite—a gentle pause in our journey. Though Paraguay remained beyond our reach, the continent still showed us its full spectrum: extremes of wealth and poverty, joy and struggle, dense jungles and arid deserts, chaos and calm. What left the deepest mark was the resilience of its people—their openness and generosity. Even when they had little, they gave everything. After four years traversing mountain passes, dense jungles, remote villages, and sprawling cities, we left South America with hearts full and eyes wide open, forever changed by the incredible stories and landscapes we’d encountered along the way.
