Crossing from Labrador into Quebec, just 20 kilometres in, we were already struggling to find English speakers. It truly felt like stepping into another country. As someone put it, “Quebec is a nation within a nation” — and it felt that way. Relations between Quebec and the rest of Canada (the “ROC”) haven’t always been smooth.
Route 389, a 565-kilometre stretch of mostly gravel and paved road, has no major towns along the way. Quebec City’s European charm was undeniable. Old Quebec, the only walled city north of Mexico, surprised us with how little English was spoken. In Montreal, Canada’s second-largest city, we were awed by the Notre-Dame Basilica and loved exploring the historic Old Montréal with its cobblestone streets, and horse-drawn carriages.

I just saw you in my city in Ontario, you guys are so cool! My mom is wondering if you have starlink. Also where are you guys going?
Wish you all the best!
Yes we do and it works perfect.
Safe travels 🐾🌻🍷
